Love the Skin You're In

Girlfriends, don’t we all know that the blazing summer sun can be hard on our skin? And even in September & October we need to be careful! After 3 months of heat, the dramatic temperature change from Summer to Fall can dry out your skin not only on the outside, but the inside as well. It’s never too late, but the earlier you start really taking care of your skin, the better!  As I always say…It’s the only skin you will ever have so take care of it! So if you think those expensive products are all you need, think again!  Here are three easy things you need to commit to before you buy that expensive wrinkle cream:
  • Stay hydrated – Something that people don’t necessarily realize is the importance of drinking water for your SKIN. Not only does it improve your metabolism, water keeps your skin hydrated. Dehydrated skin not only can begin to look older, wrinkled and less vibrant, but most importantly it causes a loss of elasticity. If you are thirsty, then you are dehydrated! I find that when I’m chronically thirsty, my skin looks thirsty, too. To fix this, not only do I try to drink more water, but I have also found a product that is a "drink for my skin" as well, called Hydrating B5 Gel by SkinCeuticals. It's light, a little bit goes a long way, and my skin feels hydrated immediately!
  • Exfoliate – While chemical peels are definitely your best option for the smoothest, most flawless looking skin, there are ways to effectively exfoliate at home as well. While not as aggressive, it’s the next best thing. I’ve found that my favorite facial exfoliators are the Spa Cell and the little rubber ovals you can get on the inexpensive cleansers in the mass market. While I don’t necessarily love the mass market cleanser, I absolute adore the little rubber exfoliator! I love these two items because used with my favorite cleanser, they allow my skin to feel and look much smoother.
  • Sunscreen – It’s true! Don’t leave home without it. Did you know up to 90% of visible changes commonly attributed to aging are caused by sun exposure? Look for a light, fluid SPF with a transparent finish, high UVA, and paraben-free. Just because you are wearing sunscreen to protect your skin doesn’t mean you have to feel like you’re wearing that heavy, white sunscreen that we are so used too!
Go!Spa Girl hopes these tips will help to refresh and rejuvenate your skin.  If you need another opinion or more info, call and book with one of our Skin Pros today!
